Because my surname is Olson and I have studied in Scandinavia about Scandinavia, I feel a need to classify for readers that Finland is generally not included as part of Scandinavia. Yes, it exists geographically on what is known as the Scandinavian Peninsula, but culturally and historically Scandinavia is composed of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Study Finnish language and cultural origins and you will understand that while of course there are similarities due to proximity, it is quite different from Scandinavia proper.

The answer is yes to the question "There is a high Scandinavian population in our area – could ancestors of Chippewa Vallians have been seeking a similar climate?" The settled here because they were familiar with farming and living in similar climates. I studied abroad in Oslo. When I got out of the airport and onto a 30 min train ride through the countryside on my way to the city I had to convince myself I wasn't still in Wisconsin - it looked identical to our countryside here, red barns and all.

I had a nice dinner here with my parents and significant other a few weeks after they opened. Although a bit dark, the atmosphere was very nice. Our waitress was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. The prices were in line with what I would expect at a supper-club style steak house. All of our steaks were cooked as ordered and the sides were delicious. We enjoyed our meal so much that we even ordered desert, a rare occurrence!

I am repeatedly disappointed by the service here. There are incredibly long waits at the bar and I have had numerous experiences with just plain rude waitstaff. Once I was even accused of throwing food on the floor when in fact it slid off the plate as the waiter was walking to my table with it. He offered no apology and stormed off when I explained what had actually happened. Unbelievable!!! There have also been multiple times where I have been seated and then forgotten about. Done with Livery.

The soup and sandwiches are fantastic. The plain brewed coffee and espresso drinks are also very good. The staff is well trained and actually knows what a "dry" cappuccino is without my having to explain it, which has turned out to be quite rare around Eau Claire, so I greatly appreciate that. This is a great place to go and work on a rainy afternoon. The staff is nice but not particularly personable, I always feel like a stranger there even though I go often.

The food, while good, is nothing to write home about. I have had both dinner and breakfast and both were average. The service is ok. Not the best, not the worst. The wait can be long even when they are not busy so I don't recommend going here for lunch if you are on a time limit. Overall, I tend to continue returning to Galloway Grille because it has a nice atmosphere to sit and catch up with a friend over a simple beer and burger.

The great food does not make up for the HORRIBLE service. We didn't see our waitress for over 1.25 hours between taking our order and bringing food. She never stopped by to refill coffee or water (both were empty), yet she and other waitresses took care of the surrounding tables. We felt like there was an invisibility shield in front of us as we repeatedly failed to get anyone's attn! There is more to my visit than I can list here, but in summary: Fantastic food, but I will NEVER GO BACK.

Out of all of the Mogenson establishments I frequent (which does not include Mona's), this one is the most consistent in terms of food quality and service. Now I'm not saying it's the best food you've ever eaten, but the price-quality ratio is great and the service is always friendly, unlike the Livery, Stella's, or the Red Room which are hit or miss. I could eat their fried cheese curds every day. My friends are all crazy for the cheesy tots.

Used to love this place. Now...not so much. On our last visit my boyfriend had the "southern" fried catfish (which is actually Northern style beer battered, not cornmeal battered like you get in the South). While the fillets were huge, he only got about 10 french fries with his meal. I had the bourbon scallops. Out of 5 measly scallops (not large ones either), one wasn't even cooked fully. They came with about a full CUP of jalapeno bacon and a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes... very inconsistent.

I went here for lunch today. The service was friendly, athough a little slow. My friend was neglected a water refill but otherwise our server was pleseant. I had the award-winning English burger on the recommendation of a friend. Although it was an excellent, fresh, and clearly hand-made burger, I'm not entirely sure why it was "award winning"... I thought it tasted like a standard burger. The sauce that makes it the "English" burger was not particularly flavorful or exciting. The criss-cut fries were great, it was hard to tell if they were hand-made or not. Overall it was ok, and the atmosphere was nice. I'd go back again and try the Lumber Jack burter next time.

I have tried BBQ chopped pork at many restaurants, but Dave's cannot be topped! Best BBQ around, or anywhere for that matter. I equally enjoy their delicious sides and cornbread muffins. The service is usually excellent. Their prices are great as well, especially on the lunchtime menu which is available seven days per week instead of only weekdays like many other restaurants. My only grip is for them to start serving room temperature butter. You can't spread ice cold butter on cornbread muffins without crumbling them to pieces.

The food was good but I wasn't a fan of standing around in the sticky mess made by people pouring sauce into their bowls. I also did not enjoy people breathing down my back while standing a packed line waiting to get my food cooked. Probably would have gone up for more food if I hadn't disliked the whole process. The atmosphere was very bland. With a name like "HuHot Mongolian Grill" I expected a more Eastern atmosphere and music, not Glee cover songs, plastic bowls, paper place mats, and plastic Pepsi glasses. Most of this is personal preference rather than truly poor restaurant quality, but I won't likely be going back.

Nice venue. I felt it was more entertaining than Tokyo but the food was not as good. I did not have the sushi, though I'm a huge fan of Shanghai Bistro so I'll be critical when I do. I'm always leery of chain restaurants so that turned me off a little from the start. Overall, it's a great place to take kids for entertainment purposes, but if you want the best hibachi in town, go to Tokyo!

I wouldn't go anywhere else for my late night post-bar pizza fix. And sometimes I stop even when I'm not out at the bar just because I'm craving some of their delicious pizza! I don't like Mac and Cheese in general so I always opt for the pepperoni. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes for the pepperoni as the Mac and Cheese pizza is more popular and always available but it is well worth the wait to me. Their cheese curds are great too! The owner and his daughter are always very nice, even during the crazy drunken 2am pizza rush.

I have only tried two things from here: BBQ chicken personal pizza and Hawaiian personal pizza. Both are AMAZING! I would try other things but I just love these two items so much I crave them when I get the chance to eat there. I have eaten there about 10-15 times over the past five years and have had a good experience every time. If time is an issue, you can order ahead for faster service. The fact that they use real, fresh ingredients makes the difference here!

I have always enjoyed eating at Drags! Last time I nearly ordered the eggplant parmesan and on a whim ordered the 21-glove garlic pasta instead. Wish I hadn't done that! It was very bland to me, and that is saying a lot because I'm mostly Norwegian and usually prefer bland food to overly flavored things, haha. That one instance aside, the rest of the food I've had there has been excellent and service is always outstanding! The pizza is to die for if you love thin crust, and their calamari is excellent!
