Just in time for the holiday of its namesake is the community-wide Martin Luther King Remembrance, a one night only celebration hosted by community organizations and businesses. The event will include both youth and adult community members reading King’s speeches, along with multimedia elements and music performances. Selika Ducksworth-Lawton, a co-chair for the event and professor at UW-Eau Claire, said the program is meant to “honor King’s vision of a beloved community, where all races and creeds work together for the common good.” Music performances will feature ensembles, including Memorial High School’s orchestra, the St. James Children’s Choir, and The University Lutheran Klezmers. Local musicians Glen Eastman of Radio Drive and David Jones of Davey J and the Jones Tones will also be performing. The program this year will be on Monday, January 16th at 6 p.m. at the St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire.
