Phenology Hike for Experienced Explorers

The hour long hike is led by a naturalist on the Reserve trails. The walk will be capped off with further discussion about the changes and things seen on the trials. Hikers should expect about a mile long hike with uneven terrain and stairs to negotiate.

National Trails Day Hike on the Ice Age Trail

June 2 is National Trails Day, a day to celebrate trails of all kinds but most especially hiking trails. We’ll celebrate on the Ice Age Trail on the beautiful Chippewa Moraine area. Meet at the Obey Interpretive Center at the Chippewa Moraine for an approximately 4-mile hike. Bring water, snack, insect strategy of choice, and wear long pants.

Free Hallie Optimist Take a Kid Fishing Event

Bring the kids to this free event and spend time outdoors fishing. They'll supply the worms and help the kids cast. Local businesses donate prizes for drawings and the kids get a hotdog, fruit and cookie lunch.

Trails Day

Activities include fishing, biking, bike tune-ups from Simple Sports, UW-Stout equipment rental booth, Mayo Clinic Health Systems bike safety, prizes and more. New this year “Snake Discovery” featuring a turtle, salamander, and snakes. Yoga class in the park will be held at 9 am before the regular events begins.

Enjoy the Wisconsin DNR Free Fishing Weekend with the Chippewa Valley Family YMCA. Meet in Marshall Park for a day of fishing instruction and learn how to fish. The 5th annual Celebrate the Chippewa River event is teaming up with Family Day in Downtown on June 30th. River activities will be taking place at The Point, where the Eau Claire and Chippewa River converge. Activities will include: canoe and kayak paddles, bank fishing, a guided bike ride, and the WDNR will be shocking fish.

Join other butterfly enthusiasts for the annual Beaver Creek Reserve Butterfly count. Review species likely to be seen; then get directions for the count and receive a route assignment. Stay and count as long as you like. The results are forwarded to the North American Butterfly Association.
