Downtown Durand to get Artisan Bakery

Trevor Kupfer |

An artisan bakery is coming to downtown Durand, and will be headed by two bakers from the former Creamery in Downsville. River Valley Bakery (as it’s intended to be called) is slated to open in late May at 216 W Main St, producing bread, rolls, Danishes, and scones hand-crafted by Richard Thomas and Al Marotz. The remodeled space (formerly a pharmacy and office) will include large windows to view the creation process and deck seating along the Chippewa River. They specialize in breads, with more than a hundred recipes, including a popular cranberry and wild rice.
