How to Celebrate Record Store Day Around Here

Thom Fountain |

Record Store Day is kind of like Black Friday, except for music lovers. And on a Saturday. It’s an international event where musicians put out exclusive vinyl for independent record stores only. Revival Records (418 S Barstow St., EC) will be the only place in the Chippewa Valley to grab some. There are well over 200 releases on the list and Revival won’t know which they get until the day of (April 21), and certainly won’t get many copies. The store opens at 8am, but last year there were customers lined up outside the door so get there early. On the top of owner Billy Siegel’s list is a Flaming Lips collaborative record, featuring Ke$ha, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and our own Bon Iver. To top off the hullabaloo will be in-store performances by Jim Pullman and Adelyn Rose and specials on used records. While The Local Store won’t be getting any of the exclusive releases, we will be offering 20% off all local vinyl we have in the store, and 10% off the rest of our music selection.
