Tacos Juanita Mexican Restaurant
Eating here offers you enough legitimate street cred to confidently inform anyone within earshot, “If you want real Mexican food, I know the place.” Cooking up food that actual Mexicans eat, Tacos Juanita provides a modest dining room to enjoy signature items like the carnitas pork – slow roasted, juicy pork which can be used in tacos, burritos, and other traditional dishes. Other favorites include the homemade tamales and the posole (pork stew). Also serving Torta Sandwiches (hot subs) with your choice of vegetarian or meaty ingredients. Authentic Mexican breakfast every weekend. Outdoor seating, private party area, carry-out service, catering, vegetarian friendly, and open late.

Tacos Juanita has earned top mexican restaurant in my book. I've been there a half-dozen times now and every one has been great. Sure, the place is quaint, no fancy hand-carved wood tables and chairs here, but the food is by far the best mexican in the area. The chimichangas will blow you away! I've also had the pork tacos and a few other dishes...all excellent! Try the habenero salsa! You've got to ask for it and it is hot-n-tasty! They also have a nice chipotle salsa as well...Thank you Juanita for taking the place of my beloved lost Panchos. |

They are listed as vegetarian friendly on here but in reality they are not. They use lard in their re-fried beans. They did not have any vegetarian friendly options on the menu. All of the other Mexican restaurants in the area have plenty of vegetarian friendly options. |

This place is great. It has improved over time. Give it another shot. The guacamole and fish tacos are my favorites. I even liked the pork and do not eat pork generally. |

Still the best Mexican food in town. The Bistec Ranchero is top-notch. You will have to finish it and you will be hurting. Nice environment for kids. If you go five times, four times, you will walk away impressed, and one time you might think it is average. Fair prices. For Eau Claire, five stars. |

Went here for breakfast on Sunday - AWESOME food. Seriously! Really fresh, really delicious. Great breakfast burritos. Clean, friendly, though your classic "hole-in-the-wall" atmosphere (though I've come to realize those are usually the best places around). Prices were pretty reasonable, though it's not "fast food cheap". Clean, quick, delicious. And for the guy who whined about the sour cream - that's how it's supposed to be, mexican-style. You basically just complained that a Mexican restaurant was TOO authentic for you. |

Excellent food! For those who want more than the usual chain restaurant "texmex" fare - authentic, fresh food at VERY reasonable prices. Try the specials on the board -they aren't usu in the menu and they are always excellent choices. I had a super tasty mole from the board last week. I was never a fan of guac until I had it here - fresh to order and so Yummy. You won't find the usual mex rest. gimmicks - just damn good food. Friday nights can be hectic for this little cafe -watch out for rowdy kids but that's the fault of the kids' owners and not the restaurants'. |

We agree that it was a little chilly inside - crank up the heat in January hey? That said, the food was interesting and delicious. I had excellent shrimp which also drew praise from my fellow taster. Years ago we walked across the AZ border to Agua Prieta and had a great meal in a little diner just like this one, except warmer! |

I tried a burrito here and it wasn't great. The salsa was awesome but I wasn't overall impressed. |

I have only tried the quessadillas here and they werent the greatest. Chicken was a little dry and the sour cream was warm and runny. Service wasn't the friendliest |

Great diner type feel. Not massive in terms of price or portion, which is good, because you can get an extra taco or something while skipping all that rice and bean side that they throw on everywhere else. Fast preparation and a small dining area make for an intimate, simple, and enjoyable meal. |

Sorry to say my dining experience here was mediocre, both in terms of service & menu taste/quality. I was disappointed, because I had higher expectations based on word of mouth. |

You should order the extra salsas and fresh guacamole. The pork and shredded beef are great. They do not garnish with much. The breakfasts can be ordered anytime. I like that they offer coupons frequently. |

I wasn't impressed with this place. Maybe I was there the same day as Anne, or this happens often, but I had the same experiance. The food took quite a while, not very flavorful, and the waitstaff never checked back with us other than to give us the check. I tired it again, a month or so later, with pretty much the same results. The wait staff checked in once, but the food was still kinda bland from what I've had in otehr places, including where I lived in Texas. I'm not going back. |

Love it. Love the steak burrito, love the omlettes, love everything I have eaten there. Wish the decor was a bit different though. |

This Mexican restaurant is the only place in town that serves real guacamole, not the runny liquid sauce that some places try to pass off. The food tastes authentic, the smoked salsa is outstanding, the chips are fresh. I love the carnitas in anything and mostly just have it in the purest form: a mexican style taco. The breakfasts are also very good. |

If you are a fan of Fish Tacos as I am then you must try Tacos Juanita. All of their tacos are simple and delicious and you can't beat the price. They also have my favorite salsa and great chucky guacamole. It's certainly not a fancy restaurant, but you get great food at a great price. |

My wife an I are big fans of Mexican food, perhaps unhealthily so, and we both agree the Mexican food here is the best in town. Any of the shrimp dishes would be a good choice, and the chorizo tacos are delicious. The owner is very personable as well, always remembering us no matter how long it's been since we visited. Unfortunately, the place is run down and usually frigid in the wintertime, so we often hit the other Mexican joints instead. That's too bad, since the food is so good. |

This place left a bad taste in my mouth. Arrived for a late lunch by myself at around 2. When I walked, I noticed that 50 percent of the tables had dirty dishes on them and the floor was filthy. After standing there for a few minutes, a woman sitting down at a table (owner?), told me I could seat myself. I sat down with no menu at one of the few clean tables. I waited no less than ten minutes before I got up and had to ask for a menu. My server was apologetic and super friendly, but my food was barely average. The cheese enchilada I ordered was cold and the cheese inside was far from melted. I left disappointed and feeling a little grossed out by my surroundings. Might have been an off day, but I probably won't come back to see. |

Best Mexican food we have found in Eau Claire. Very family friendly. If you really like spicy food, when your waiter/waitress brings you the salsa and chips, ask if you can also have the extra salsas. The smoked pepper one is wonderful. |
