Bruce Taylor is one of Eau Claire's most visible poets, as the current poet laureate for the city, and an accomplished author of nine collections of poetry. His newest, In Other Words, consists of five sections, each of which is based upon a previously existing text. Whether an encyclopedia of gardening, the journals of a Trappist monk, the notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci or the odes of a Persian mystic, the original writings serve as a source and inspiration for Taylor's poems, which in various ways explore the human relationship with the divine. This reading was held at The Local Store Gallery on Thursday, September 25.
