Illuminating Trip: Winter Lights in the Twin Cities

Katie Larson |

Just shy of a two-hour drive from the Chippewa Valley one will find the wonders of light and mixed mediums in Bruno Munro’s Winter Lights exhibit at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Running through winter, this self-guided walking tour features five outdoor light installations and one indoor display as well as a series of immersive sensory audio-visual animation displays.

Winter Lights features three new displays specific to the arboretum: Oreum, Rhadamanthine Club, and Reflections. As you walk the sites at night, you can stop into the Oswald Visitor Center to grab hot refreshments and a bite to eat.

Tickets for the display are going fast! Buying tickets online is recommended because they are not guaranteed to be available at the door. A $5 surcharge will be added to each ticket, guaranteeing entry into the exhibit.

The best deal offered for viewing the exhibit is the Southwest Transit Park and Ride ticket option. This includes covered parking, round trip transportation to the arboretum, and exhibit admission for $15 per person. Children three and under are free with purchase of adult ticket. To check out the installations or to purchase tickets go to munrowinterlightmn.org.
