Helping Keep Each Other Warm

Katie Larson |

Over the winter months, there is nothing better than the warmth generated from a soft, cozy blanket, especially when you are sick. HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals are in need of new, clean, and comfortable blankets for their palliative care patients. These patients and their families face problems associated with life-threatening illnesses and oftentimes experience lengthy and difficult hospital stays. The warmth of these blankets can bring them comfort and a piece of home. All blankets donated are theirs to keep, and they either goes home with the patient upon discharge or are given to the family after a patient’s death as a keepsake. Twin-size blankets (60 inches wide by 72 inches long) are needed most. Most of these blankets will be donated to adult or elderly patients so gender-neutral prints and colors are preferred. Blankets can be dropped off at either hospital at the front entrance desk. Please attach a note in attention to the palliative care service, including your name and mailing address so your donation can be acknowledged. For more information, please call (715) 717-4543.
