Fans of Jimmy John's sub sandwiches should be happy to hear that local Jimmy John's franchisee Ray Thielbar plans to open a new location at 213 North Barstow Street in in downtown Eau Claire, pending on his purchase of the building later this week. According to local business newsletter The Bottom Line, the sale should be final May 5.

The building used to house Ajay Tax & Accounting. The block is also home to a few other freshly opened (or soon to open) buisnesses such as vintage clothing store Good and Sturdy.

The presence of a franchise restaurant this far into downtown may speak to economic health of the downtown area. It seems like there are plenty of potential customers in the nearby Phoenix Park Neighborhood, not to mention the students living in the newly opened Haymarket Landing Building.

Jimmy John's franchisee buys building

Ray Thielbar, franchisee for Jimmy John's in the Chippewa Valley, has purchased the building at 213 North Barstow Street in Eau Claire and will convert the facility into a Jimmy John's location.

According to Thielbar, the deal does not close until May 5th. Dean Larsen of Acquisition Realty & Development handled the deal for both parties. Jason Manx was the previous owner of the building.

"We are catering to another Jimmy John's downtown and it's reach of our current territory," said Thielbar.
