While people rarely see eye-to-eye on anything, one thing I think all of us can agree on is the beauty of a perfectly packed burrito. Few things in this life are greater than the first bite of cheesy, beefy goodness, all wrapped up in a warm tortilla.

For my fellow burrito lovers living around Water Street, El Patio’s Burrito Express has been a blessing. El Patio provides the community with an authentic and delicious burrito right down the street at a great price. Whether you prefer, a chicken, steak, or “naked” burrito they’ve got options for everyone. Within minutes of stepping inside El Patio, your burrito is in your hands, piping hot and ready to be devoured.

But El Patio isn’t done impressing us yet. Burrito Express is exploring the idea of starting to deliver to all you burrito-loving fools in the comforts of your homes.

For the past few months, Alex Castro and his team at El Patio have been working on a new delivery system that will bring fresh, toasty burritos straight to your doorstep. “I’m a person who likes to try new things, and I’m going to try and see where this new adventure takes us,” says Castro, the owner.

They intend their new system to be faster than freaky, delivering a fresh, warm burrito to customers within 15 minutes. Initially, deliveries will only be made to customers within a 2.5-mile radius of El Patio, as Castro is working hard to make sure the system is running smoothly and effectively for customers before expanding.

“I want to do this right,” he said,  “so a lot of planning goes into making sure we have a successful system.”

Deliveries will be as quick and easy for customers as possible. An online platform and an app are both in the works, while Apple Pay will allow customers to order with just the touch of a finger. Customer satisfaction and ease of use are Castro’s main goals.

“We studied the market to see what people wanted,” Castro said. “I think a lot about the students at the university; they were asking for delivery, and the concept was really created by them.”

To all the college students and community members begging for home-delivered burritos: Your wish is El Patio’s command; so get your orders ready. Best of luck to El Patio’s Burrito Express: We are all excited to have you knocking at our doors sometime soon.
