Hello, what are you?

The Atlantic recently posted a video featuring results from a survey of American greetings. The video explores how conversation-starters depend on where you live. For example, New Yorkers often ask strangers "So what neighborhood do you live in?" when they first meet, whereas Alaskans ask, "Where are you from?"

But that's not all, the video mentions a greeting from Appleton, Wisconsin, and surprisingly it's not "Who's your favorite Packer?" or "Where's the cheese?" Apparently, after they greet strangers, some Wisconsinites often ask, "What are you?"

"I guess you always wanted to have a little insight into what a person's personality is as you go forward to meet them," explains the Wisconsinite in the video.
