Trying to make the most out of this season’s weather and fall colors? Perhaps an afternoon of hiking could provide you with the lungfuls of crisp air you so desire. Consider the following hiking wonderlands identified by Travel Wisconsin as the bee’s knees ... of Sconnie hiking. Some of these locales may require a day trip or weekend excursion, but if hiking’s your thing, it should be worth it!

Horicon Marsh
Enjoy hearing the tweets of the birds? (Without reference to Twitter…) Perchance a drive down to the southeastern part of the state would be ideal. Horicon Marsh offers a brand new “floating boardwalk” with access to 32,000-acres of wildlife freedom, home to more than 305 different species.

Wyalusing State Park
On the opposite side of the state lies Wyalusing State Park, which could be considered the poster-child for breathtaking views and miles on miles of trails, mainly for the more experienced hikers. This is the perfect location for spotting fall colors amidst the trees and surrounding landscape.

Ice Age trail
Ice Age Trail gets its name from the glaciers that shaped its landforms over 12,000 years ago. Just near Chippewa County, a hike at Glacial Pace is one for forest lovers and tree huggers. Crammed full with high peaks, these trails provide the option for a serene and tranquil stroll through nature this fall.

LaSalle Falls
Last but not least, LaSalle Falls, located north of Green Bay, is home to some beautifully flowing waterfalls (as opposed to the boring ones that just drop straight down). Although it’s not exactly Niagara Falls, these northeastern waterfalls cascade over the state’s quick-current rivers, providing a rewarding sight mid-hike.
