Clothing that runs the gamut from formal to casual to children’s, all designed by students, will hit the runway this week at UW-Stout. The annual Silhouettes Fashion Show showcases original designs by 60 apparel design and development students. Show times are 7pm Thursday, April 18, and 3pm and 5pm Saturday, April 20, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center.

About 150 designs will be modeled, with many of the designs created by students as part of class projects. However, some clothing represents independent student work. One of the designers, Alicia Hinz, is also the show director. “The show is an experience in itself. We have music pumping, video projecting, lights changing, an elevated stage and runway, and of course fantastic heels, crazy hair, fabulous makeup and all Stout-created ensembles,” said Hinz, a senior from Green Bay.

The Thursday show will be judged by industry professionals, including UW-Stout alumni. The Saturday shows will include an awards ceremony, along with student displays about the process they followed in creating their apparel. Tickets can be purchased online or at the student center service desk.
