Mega-Excited for the new Megafaun

Trevor Kupfer |

This is a big year for DeYarmond Edison fans. You've got the ridiculously massive sophomore album of Bon Iver, and now (just months later), a new LP from the Megafaun cats.

Pitchfork recently posted the first single off the album, which is due Sept. 20 off Hometapes and is conveniently also a self-titled release. (Though can we really call Bon Iver, Bon Iver self-titled?) The song, titled These Words, is a perfect balance of what makes Megafaun great (harmonic, quirky folk) and a weird new direction (animal sounds?) that makes me excited for the new album. If it's anything near the amazingness that was Gather, Form, & Fly, we're in for another treat from these Chippewa Valley exports.

Check out the track here, and buy their previous albums here.

P.S. Is it just me or is their new logo a weird mixture of VW and Quad/Graphics?
