Rally at Eau Claire City Hall

Rally at 6pm on Friday (Feb. 18) at the Eau Claire City Hal (203 South Farwell Street). The Transit Commission, a subcommittee of the Eau Claire City Council, will hold a special meeting on Friday evening (tomorrow) at 6 pm to take up consideration of a special motion, authored by Councilman Dana Wachs, regarding the moves of Gov. Scott Walker. They say, by his proposed elimination on collective bargaining, Walker may have invalidated Wisconsin’s right to receive federal funding for public transportation. People are to gather on Farwell Street.

County Workers to rally at EC County Courthouse

On Friday (Feb. 18), Eau Claire county workers invite the public to rally in opposition of  Governor Walker's budget repair bill –  noon to 1pm at the Eau Claire County Courthouse.

Eau Claire County Board votes 20-7 in favor of opposing Walker's proposed elimination of collective bargaining

Last night (Feb. 16), the Eau Claire County Board met and approved a resolution opposing provisions of Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill (Senate Bill 11), in regard to collective bargaining .  The vote was 20-7 for the resolution.

Eau Claire City council opposes Walker cuts

Last night (Feb. 15), in a 10-0 vote, the Eau Claire City Council unanimously approved a resolution to oppose certain provisions of Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, and are asking the state legislature to take their time when considering the bill. According to WEAU.com,  councilman Dana Wachs said, “This is being imposed on us, we never asked for this.” And Councilman Thomas Kemp said, “I think the 10-0 vote here tonight shows that folks of all political stripes agree…we have a good relationship with our local municipal workers, and we want to keep it that way.”

Local Rally at South Middle School

Yesterday (Feb. 15), South Middle School's auditorium hosted hundreds of locals – public employees and people supporting them – in opposition of Gov. Scott Walker's plan to take away collective bargaining for most of  Wisconsin's public workers.

Walker's Eau Claire Visit

Yesterday (Feb. 15), Gov. Walker stopped by McDonough Manufacturing Co. as part of a one-day, four-city tour to discuss and promote  his controversial budget repair bill. As he talked with McDonough staffers inside, over 200 locals gathered outside in protest. According to the Leader-Telegram, Walker said the only alternative to his plan involves mass layoffs – taking away 5,500 to 6,000 state jobs and 5,000 to 6,000 local government jobs. Protesters cited the elimination of collective bargaining for public workers as their major concern.
