Though it began this Wednesday, expect the 113th edition of the Northern Wisconsin State Fair to be in full swing this Saturday. The fair features hands-on educational experiences and traditional competitive agricultural exhibits, the Draft Horse Show or any of the Junior and Open class animal shows, plus Midway rides and fair food. Main Stage acts include Rick Springfield, Phil Vassar, Chris Young and The Guess Who. Sunday features lawn mower racing and the antique tractor parade. Details: July 7-11, opens at 9am, Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, 331 Jefferson Ave., Chippewa Falls. Check out the full schedule of events here.

HOOPS: The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament | The original Gus Macker Tournament was started in 1974 by Scott McNeal (alias Gus Macker) on his parents’ driveway basketball court in Lowell, Mich., with 18 friends. Since 1987, the Macker Tour has expanded, holding both indoor and outdoor tournaments in over 75 cities and with over 200,000 players and 1.7 million spectators enjoying 3-on-3 competition and family fun each year. (Games start at 8am, July 10 at Owen Park, 1st Ave., Eau Claire)

MELODRAMA: True Blue and Trusted | Remember the old Snidely Whiplash shows? This is an old-fashioned "boo the villain", "cheer the hero" melodrama complete with songs, olios, and enough bad jokes to keep you laughing all night long, brought to you by the Eau Claire Children's Theatre. Chances of a top hat-wearing villain twisting his mustache are high. (Sat., July 10 at 7:30pm and Sun., July 11 at 1:30pm, The Oxford Theatre, 1814 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, $15)

SONGSTRESSES: Girls Night Out | Groups of gregarious girls with guitars gather for one night. Enjoy an all local, all female free night of live music from the Chippewa Valley. Kenzie Joy kicks things off, followed by singer/songwriter Leiah Webb. Saralleli continue the night with their vocal and guitar harmonies followed by fresh young artist Won Siemit who finish off the night. Don’t miss the sounds of another “Girls Night Out!” (7pm, July 10th at The Acoustic Cafe, 505 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire)

The rest of Saturday here. More of a Sunday person? This link's for you.
