Is ‘Ladies Night’ a human rights violation?

I’ve never heard this debated on our side of the Mississippi, but “Ladies Night” drink specials are under fire over in the Twin Cities, with five bars getting charged for violating Minnesota's Human Rights Act. From CityPages.com ...

  • Men and women can now get plowed on the cheap equally, or not at all: The Minnesota Department of Human Rights is reinforcing an old rule that "Ladies Night" drink specials amount to illegal gender discrimination.
  • Talk about a buzz kill.
  • The sobering news comes after MDHR charged five Twin Cities bars for violating the state's Human Rights Act by engaging in "gender-based pricing." MDHR hasn't yet named the bars, so don't rush out tonight looking for them.

Speaking as a guy who would certainly enjoy a half-priced beer, I say, “It’s about time!” Speaking as a guy who doesn’t see the inside of a bar as much as he used to, I say, “Eh.” I’m not sure what I’d say if actually owned a bar.
