Local Robber Gets Stuck in Parking Lot

This nutty story is all over the local media right now, even getting a red “breaking news” style headline over on WEAU.com. Basically, Cynder Schoff, assistant manager of Erwin’s 19th Hole over in Lake Hallie, was taking a cash bag across the street to U.S. Bank when a guy she recognized as an Erwin’s regular tried to rob her right outside the bank. She struggled, and with the help of an unamed woman, she got away unharmed. And the cops caught the robber. From the WEAU story

  • That's when a woman who was in the parking lot came to her aid and Cynder got away. Officers were already on their way after several 911 calls and the chief says Cynder's helper made their job a lot easier; she took the keys out of the would-be-robber's car.
  • "When the squads got there he was still in his vehicle probably trying to figure out how to get away," says Lake Hallie Police Chief Cal Smokowicz.

It’s pretty funny to picture the robber sitting in his car, trying to find his keys. I’m guessing the mystery woman who aided the victim must have known the thief well enough to recognize his car and take his keys out of it.
