Live Like You Mean It. Now.

Kudos to whoever selected Wisconsin’s new state slogan – “Live Like You Mean It” – for making sure our collective motto is worded as a command. Today, Wisconsin casts of its previous slogan, which merely stated that “life’s so good,” in favor of an intense directive that starts with a verb. We’re not simply telling the world that “Hey, it’s important to live life like you mean it." We’re demanding the entire world to “Live like you mean it. Now.”

Unveiled by Governor Doyle in La Crosse on Monday, the vague and ambiguous vibrant and positive slogan is hoped to boost tourism and business. The idea, we assume, is to provoke conversations like this:

  • Man: Honey, where should we go on vacation?
  • Woman: Someplace fun, Dear.
  • Man: How about Minnesota?
  • Woman: No way. They tell you to “Explore Minnesota.”
  • Man: WTF? Too much work.
  • Woman: And they have a state muffin: Blueberry.
  • Man: Really?
  • Woman: Really.
  • Man: Let’s go to Wisconsin. Those dudes are “livin’ like they mean it" over there.
  • Woman: Rock.

Or something like that.
