WI Police Chief to Get
Publicly Tasered

It’s true what they say. There’s nothing quite like combining charitable fundraising, tests of manly endurance, debilitating electric shocks, and the chief of your local police department. And if you’re lucky enough to live in a little town in eastern Wisconsin called Combined Locks, this magic combination will be happening on Tuesday – the local police chief is getting stun-gunned. For charity. From Milwaukee’s Journal Sentinel

  • Police Chief Steven Wulgaert says he's the only one of his five full-time and five part-time officers who hasn't been shocked during training. He says he took some ribbing about this before telling the officers they could shock him if they raised $500 for the charity.
  • Officer Duane Dissen says the department has raised about $800 so far and hopes to collect $2,500.

The money will go to the Special Olympics. I’m all for raising charity money, but I’m not sure this sends the best message to the kiddies. I think Chief Wulgaert’s heart is in the right place (and I hope it’s healthy), but do people really need to see a guy get tasered before they make some charitable donations? Apparently.

I’m also torn as to whether or not the Combined Locks Police Department is the dumbest or toughest police force in the state. And also, what the hell kind of name is “Combined Locks?”
