Caterpillar Lab Training

Learn how Beaver Creek Reserve raises caterpillars. Volunteers are needed from June through mid-September. Volunteering involves the daily care and feeding of caterpillars, monitoring chrysalis development, and releasing butterflies into the Butterfly House.

Summer Bird Banding at Henke Acres

Beaver Creek Bird Banders spend weeks at Henke Acres participating in the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship project. Join the banders for a morning of hiking remote and moderately rugged trails, banding birds, and enjoying the sights and sounds. No shelter or restroom, but plenty of mosquitos and ticks.

Beekeeping 103

The final class in the beginning beekeeping series taught in partnership with the Chippewa Eau Claire Beekeepers. Topics include heath maintenance of bees, fall feeding tips, harvesting honey and wintering survival skills. There may be an opportunity to extract and bottle your honey.
