Joe Young creates art from what he sees around him; botanicals, landscapes and people. Primarily working in oil, he also uses watercolor and charcoal. He trained at Goddard College and The Vermont Studio School.

Fall Bird Hike and Banding Demo

Spend the morning with Beaver Creek Bird Banders. Begin the morning with a bird hike at the Reserve to look for fall migrants. Then wander back to the Nature Center for a banding demonstration. Learn about bird identification, bird behavior, and why we band them. This program is open to bird enthusiasts of all abilities.

35th Annual Leader-Telegram Buckshot Run for Special Olympics - Saturday

A 2 and 5 mile run/walk in and around beautiful Carson Park and downtown Eau Claire is ranked one of the top 10 races in Wisconsin. Check in begins at 7:30 AM, the 5 mile starts at 9 AM the 2 mile starts at 10:30 a.m., the Kids’ Fun Run begins at 11:30 a.m. and awards are at Noon.

Menomonie Farmers Market

Since 2000, this market has seen a remarkable growth in participation and sales. Farmer participation has increased from an average of 3-4 vendors in past seasons to 20 vendors at the peak of the summer harvest. A typical market day this past season had 15-20 farmers selling everything from vegetables to fruit, eggs, meats and handmade crafts.
