Encaustic Painting - The Fusion of Hot wax and Mixed Media

Kay Geraghty's Encaustic is an ancient medium that Greek artists used back as long ago as the 5th century BC for portraits and panels. It consists of natural bees wax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap).

When the Ferries Still Ran

Before there were bridges on the Chippewa River ferries carried traffic from one shore to the other. From about 1840, when the Europeans began settling permanently along the river, until 1964 ferries provided service at various places on the river. The stories have been preserved by the presenter Jim Alf, one of the ferrymen, in his book “When the Ferries Still Ran.”

Winter After Hours 2017

It's about that time to get out and have some outdoor winter fun. Activities vary from ice skating, snowshoeing, winter Kubb, and snow sculptures.
