The Time and Place: Getting Setting Right in Historical Fiction
"The Time and the Place: Getting Setting Right in Historical Fiction," presented by Molly Patterson, professor of English at UWEC. Setting in historical fiction is more than just a place: it's time period, culture, customs, and values. It's the breakfast your characters eat and the way they do their hair. But how do writers keep from getting bogged down in the details? Molly Patterson will use examples from my novel Rebellion to talk about the importance of setting and how to get it right.
