The Life & Times of Louisa May Alcott

Although Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) is known primarily as the author of Little Women and its sequels, she was a multi-faceted woman—an activist with an independent spirit, who served as a Civil War nurse and suffrage reformer. Based on Alcott’s novels, letters, and journals, Rose Stephenson brings to life this fascinating Unitarian woman and the times in which she lived.

Frank J. Hess & Sons Cooperage: Wisconsin and America's Last Oak Beer Keg Maker

When it closed in 1966, the Frank J. Hess and Sons Copperage was the last in America that manufactured white oak beer kegs. Old-timers will remember the storied cracker barrel, the sugar barrel and the flour barrel, the dried fish, oysters, herring and other food stuffs that were packed, shipped and displayed in wooden barrels.
