Quartet for the End of Time
Musician and composer Olivier Messiaen (1908 –1992) was interned in a German prison camp in 1940 where he discovered other musicians among his fellow prisoners, and created the Quartet for the End of Time. The Quartet is a musical extension of the Biblical account of the descent of the seventh angel who announces the end of time, and is based in part on ancient Hindu and Greek rhythms.
