Favorite Local Meteorologist

1st Place: LeAnn Lombardo (WQOW)
2nd Place: Nick Grunseth (WQOW)
3rd Place: Monica Ott (WEAU)

Likability plus forecast accuracy is the key in the category, although reliability of forecast has to play a role in likability. Both runaway repeat champ LeAnn Lombardo and runner-up Nick Grunseth have been in the Chippewa Valley almost a decade. Lombardo has been at WQOW since 2006, spending most of that time sharing friendly morning banter on Daybreak until a few years ago when she scaled back to spend more time with her family. Now she focuses on providing the weather at 10pm Sundays and fills in when needed. Grunseth has been in western Wisconsin since 2007, first at WQOW, then at its La Crosse sister station (WXOW), and – since last year – as Daybreak prognosticator and chief meteorologist at WQOW. Relative newcomer and WEAU Sunrise meteorologist Monica Ott, who trailed Grunseth by a single vote, always has a smile regardless of the forecast. Word is she makes a mean cupcake. And we won’t hold being a Buckeye rather than a Badger Fan against her. –Barbara Arnold
