This year’s rendition of The Last Waltz presented by The Rhythm Posse is scheduled to be, well, the last. Join them at “Stage Fright” from 7pm-midnight at The Metro (201 E. Lake St., Eau Claire) on Nov. 27 for their final annual recreation of the documentary film The Last Waltz.

This legendary Martin Scorsese-directed film chronicled The Band’s farewell concert, which took place Nov. 25, 1976. Local musicians will assume the roles of the concert’s guest artists, including Neil Young, Ronnie Hawkins, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and so many more who played in The Band’s final show or were interviewed for the documentary.

This year, organizers polled past attendees to determine which former participants should reprise their roles as various famous artists and secured the best of the best to perform. Tickets are available at the door starting at 6pm, and proceeds benefit the Bolton Refuge House. More than 40 musicians are expected to perform at the event. According to the event’s Facebook page, this will be the “last time doing The Last Waltz for a while,” but it’s making up for it by being the biggest, best rendition yet.
