Eau Claire Global Market brings in fair-trade vendors

Tom Giffey |

Searching for unique, handcrafted holiday gifts that benefit more than just the people who receive them? Look no further than the Fourth Annual Eau Claire Global Market, which will feature 29 vendors selling hand-made products from nearly as many different countries (plus a mouthwatering menu of international food, including curries, pulled-pork tacos, and kimchi friend rice).

Travel the globe without venturing outside the walls of First Congregational Church, which will host the sale on Saturday, Nov. 9. Organizations participating in the sale are focused on sustainability, fair trade, and improving the lives of some of the world’s most marginalized people. You’ll see scarves made by Syrian refugees in Jordan, home goods woven by Mayan women from Guatemala, jewelry sold to aid grandmothers in Kenya, and dozens more beautiful products with even more beautiful stories behind them.

Other goods will include clothing, art, coffee, food, holiday decorations, and more. Proceeds go toward the numerous nonprofit and community organizations themselves, so you can feel good about buying local – and global.

Fourth Annual Eau Claire Global Market: Saturday, Nov. 9, 9am-4pm at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway St., Eau Claire. Free Admission. Contact at ecglobalmarketgifts@gmail.com. For more information visit them online at  eauclaireglobalmarket.blog
