Thirty artists are opening their home studios and galleries for the 21st annual Fresh Art Tour just as Mother Nature is painting the color of leaves to from green to red, orange, gold, and brown. The tour is in Pepin and Pierce Counties on Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10am-5pm. Download the map or pick up a brochure / tour map for this self-guided road trip to 19 locations. Participating artists specialize in jewelry, textiles, pottery, painting, mixed media, and more. The Purple Turtle Artisan Collective in Stockholm is tour headquarters. There you can view the wares of 18 artists as well as see them hone their crafts. Start anywhere on the route and let the Fresh Art Tour logo signs guide you. Travel along the shores of glittering Lake Pepin from Backwaters Studio and Full Circle Studio in Bay City, to the Flaming Art Studio and the Pepin Farm Pottery in Maiden Rock, then onward to seven spots in Stockholm including the Jenny Lind Bakery and Svedvik Arts, and ending in Pepin at BNOX Jewelry Studio and Little Plum Pottery. Or travel inland via the backroads and beyond to Arkansaw. There artists from Vevang MPLS Studio will demonstrate spoon carving. In the true Scandinavian tradition, they’ll only use an axe and knife without any sandpaper. The cost: your time, the gas, and any artwork you happen to pick up.
