Say Cheese for Cheesesteak

Chippewa Valley Cheesesteak rolls onto the food truck scene

Rebecca Mennecke |

Nothing says ‘Wisconsin’ quite like cheese, and nothing says ‘Food Truck Friday’ quite like the Chippewa Valley Cheesesteak, which will be grilling up good eats at Food Truck Friday with their cheesesteak sandwiches, cheesesteak fries, crispy chicken wraps, Shrimp Po’ Boy, the Gym Membership (with “everything but the kitchen sink on a bun,” according to the owners), and even more. This local and family-run food truck began with husband and wife duo Travis and Samantha Joncas, who have a combined 30 years of restaurant experience. Samatha Joncas is a trained chef with a culinary arts and hospitality degree. Travis Joncas has been managing restaurants for a whopping 20 years. Their mission is to create something unique to the area, with food that stands out, the pair said. This is their first year at Food Truck Friday, but you may know them from the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, Country Fest, and Freedom Fest in Menomonie. Expect good portions and food worth talking about, the husband-wife duo said. With their beautiful trailer, great staff, and an amazing menu you won’t want to miss out. For folks looking for more info on this cheesy food truck (literally!), check out their Facebook page or swing by Food Truck Friday and try them out for yourself!

Volume One’s Food Truck Friday event series – presented in partnership with Silver Spring Foods – kicks off its second season on Friday, May 3, along the Great Lawn in downtown Eau Claire’s Phoenix Park. Each month from May to September, as many as 10 food, snack, and drink establishments will open for business for lunch and dinner (11am-7pm), providing the opportunity to sample and feast upon the work of multiple mobile chefs.
