Lake Wissota Lights Up for Glittering Outdoor Evening

Lauren Fisher |

What’s more romantic than snowy trails lit by the golden light of flickering candles?  Nothing, that’s what.  So if you’ve been jonesing to get outside with your significant other, now’s your chance.  The Friends of Lake Wissota State Park are hosting a candlelight ski, hike, and snowshoe event Saturday, Jan 19 from 5-8pm.  Visitors can park at the boat landing parking lot at 18127 County Highway O in Chippewa Falls and hike out into the park along the lit trails.  Campfires will be provided by the event organizers, and guests can bring their own hot dogs or s’more fixings to roast.  Hot chocolate and apple cider will be available to warm everyone’s insides.  Snowshoes will also be available for borrowing with a suggested donation.  Whether or not our snowless winter persists, it’s bound to be a lovely stroll in a lovely part of the Valley.  A vehicle admission sticker is required and will be available for purchase at the park.  More information is available online at www.dnr.wi.gov
