The First Rule of Fright Club ...

wrestling + comedy = Halloweekend madness

The wrestlers and the comedians are back at it.
The wrestlers and the comedians are back at it.

At first glance, the worlds of stand-up comedy and professional wrestling may not appear to have much in common. Comedy gives the audience sharp wit and observation, while wrestling is built on theatrics and physical skill. But what both art forms do offer is unfettered entertainment, which is what you can expect at this year’s first-ever Fright Club. The local stand up collective Clear Water Comedy has partnered with Showtime Wrestling, an independent wrestling promotion, to bring the masses a unique evening of performance down at The Plus. There will be action inside the wrestling ring where some of Showtime’s best talent take each other on in an exhibition that must be seen. In between matches, comedians will hop into the ring to trade barbs as they take part in a hilarious roast battle. If you’re craving more than high-flying action and homegrown laughs, then fear not. Local electronic artist Sloslylove will be filling the venue with his unique mix of dance music, heavy experimental rockers The Ronald Raygun will play, and multiple DJs will spin all night. Dress up for the costume contest or see who can work the crowd in the new wrestler entrance contest. If you include the food and drink specials, there’s no reason to miss the Fright Club Halloween Bash. For double the fun, a ticket bundle is available to see Fright Club and Sawdust City Limits 5 for $12 in advance.
