The Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation is seeking local artists to serve as Artists in the Classroom at Flynn Elementary School in Eau Claire. The Artist in the Classroom program is supported by a fund that originated with two Eastside Hill Neighborhood residents who wanted to provide support for an artist to share art and technique with Flynn students and staff over a semester. The fund was created in 2016, and the first artists worked with Flynn students last spring.

The annual Call for Artists is taking place now, with applications due Oct.15 for the spring 2019 semester. Applicants will be reviewed and selected by the art teacher. Together, the teacher and artist will determine the activities, hours, and schedule for the artist, according to Sarah French, executive director of the foundation. French said they would love to see the fund grow and hope to expand the program to year-round (and perhaps to other schools).

Community members are welcome to support this endeavor through financial gifts. More information about the program, including how to apply or contribute, can be found online at https://bit.ly/2OITOKF
