This month, The Chippewa Valley Jazz Orchestra will perform some funky hits from the 1970s and 1980s. At 7:30pm on March 30 at the State Theatre, join the orchestra for a night of jamming out at the Friday Funktacular Backstage Show. The event highlights a variety of famous horn-oriented bands from the ’70s and ’80s, including  Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores, Trombone Shorty, The Blues Brothers, Scottish funk band The Average White Band, and many more. In addition to all this funky music, the orchestra will feature songs from other soul and blues bands from the era. This event is one of the last for the jazz orchestra at the State Theatre, which will close in the fall when the new Pablo Center at the Confluence opens. The theater encourages attendees to buy their tickets soon on the State Theatre’s website or by calling the theater.
