Soon enough “Jingle Bell Rock,” Santa Claus paraphernalia, and glittery ornaments will engulf each American city in a Christmas tidal wave. Eau Claire joins the seasonal festivities with the 16th annual Christmastime in the City event. Join your neighbors Dec. 2 for holly jolly happenings throughout the day. From 1-3:45pm, visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the State Theatre for crafts and holiday cheer. Santa will read “The Night Before Christmas” at 3pm. From 1-4:30pm, The Plus will offer a special holiday lunch featuring a pizza buffet and soda for only $5 per person. (You’ll need a coupon from the Visit with Santa event.) To top off the afternoon, the annual Christmas tree lighting will be held at 4:30pm at the corner of South Barstow Street and Grand Avenue. Other concurrent downtown events include a Christmas Cookie Walk at Christ Church Cathedral, a session to make Teen Pinterfest Gifts at the library, an Eau Claire Children’s Theatre presentation of Madeline’s Christmas at The Oxford, and loads more! Visit downtowneauclaire.org for the full listing of events, times, and locations. Cozy up in horse-drawn carriages, secure your spot on Santa’s Nice List, and participate in this celebration of peace and joy. You’re guaranteed to leave downtown smelling like pine trees and fresh-baked cookies.
