Folk and Flowers: Galaudet Gallery Hosts Dual Art Exhibit

Emily Kinzel |

Eau Claire is growing new branches in the creative community. Contributing to the art scene is Galaudet Gallery with two completely unique art exhibits. Owners and artists Vicki and Mike Milewski hope to connect Chippewa Valley residents through art.

Running from Nov 15 to Jan 5, Galaudet Gallery creates a stamping ground for Shakers & Makers: American Folk Art and Beyond. This event challenges the classic themes surrounding folk art in inventive ways. The exhibit will include both modern and 19th-century pieces throughout each room.

Not only will the works of art call into question the definition of folk art, but the definition of what it means to be an artist. This exhibit is specific to the celebration of self-taught artists. Scattered among the canvas-strewn landscape are unique gifts perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

Running synchronously is the Choix Roses Art Exhibit, botanical artistry fills the walls, featuring famed Pierre J. Redouté’s muse, the rose. Redouté’s technique brings the roses to life so effectively you may want to give the paintings a sniff.

Events will be held throughout the exhibits’ timeframe with art and mansion tours, speakers, and shopping opportunities. Visit galaudetgallery.wixsite.com for the full events list. Attend the two-for-one exhibit at Galaudet Gallery and let the art fuel your creative soul.
