The Chippewa Valley is proud of our local music talents, and Altoona City Administrator Mike Golat couldn’t agree more. “Part of the greater Prairie vision, music has always been an integral part,” he said. The River Prairie Center is hosting its very own and very first concert, River Prairie Revelry, on Friday, Nov. 3. Marrying their sponsor Northwestern Bank with the musical know-how of Blugold Radio, The River Prairie Revelry invites all who enjoy live performances, a refreshing beer, and mobile sustenance from local food trucks for a concert by Caitlin McGarvey, Eggplant Heroes, Nici Peper, and The Rattlenecks. “Our goal is to host concerts to prove we are dedicated to this concept of supporting local music, and we view ourselves as part of the emerging music scene,” Golat said. The River Prairie Center has a lot to offer with five possible stages built into the park, which can host an array of events from outdoor exercise classes to a concert with the capacity to hold 300-400 people. “The River Prairie Revelry is a great opportunity to get more people to the building and the park just to show what it has to offer,” Golat said. Its versatile spaces allow private or public events including business meetings, weddings, receptions, and reunions in a beautiful outdoor setting. According to Golat, the center has already booked 25 weddings for its upcoming season. In the future, the center hopes to establish partnerships with local businesses, farmers markets, music festivals, and craft and car shows. “We are excited to showcase this venue and collaborate with other people to imagine what this space could be.” Golat said. Doors open for River Prairie Revelry at 5pm. Tickets are available for purchase online at blugoldradio.bigcartel.com in advance for $7 or at the door for $10.
