For some, autumn’s arrival comes by way of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. For others, it’s the day they can comfortably pull of that fabulous pair of riding boots. While I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love those bits of fall, neither of those things fill my mind this night. It is the memory of acorns crunching beneath each of my mom’s steps and the flood of blaze orange and golden leaves swirling around us in the cool autumn air. It was how we often spend our weekends in the fall – long walks through the hidden nooks and crannies of our neighborhood. The vivid colors and sounds of autumn make perfect memories. It’s also the perfect time for the 18th Annual Fresh Art Tour: Autumn Edition. This year’s tour will be Oct. 6-8 and will feature 17 artists’ studios and galleries. The self-guided tour will showcase a variety of art – everything from pottery to textiles, painting to photography, and metal crafted into jewelry – and that’s just a small peek into what awaits. Each stop along the tour’s path features an artist’s demonstration. Tour-goers will also be welcomed to try try their hand at creating art at many of the sites. Acrylics and watercolors, mixed media and beauty made from clay will not be the only pieces of art that fill your days during this fall’s Fresh Art Tour. As you walk through the quaint villages nestled in between the bluffs and weaving waters of Pierce, Pepin, and Buffalo counties, take in the warmth of the sun. Breathe in the smoky-pine scented woods. Soak in nature’s brush strokes and sculptures, and create fresh memories.
