Hankering for a good old-fashioned county fair featuring 4-Hers, Future Farmers of America, and FUN? Then git to the 93rd annual five-day Eau Claire County Fair, which runs Wednesday, July 26, through Sunday, July 30, at the Eau Claire County Expo Center. Admission and parking are free. What the young’ns do there is priceless! Area youth will show animals they’ve raised: cattle, chickens, goats, pigs, rabbits, and sheep, to name a few. Blue ribbons anyone? Horseback riders will skillfully maneuver in  barrel racing and Gymkhana. Others will share homemade foods and crafts. Specials “kids days” on Friday and Saturday feature  many kid-friendly events, including a petting zoo, special kids games, bouncy houses, bungee jumping and bungee running, an ice-cream eating contest, 4-H Clover Treasure Hunt, a FAIRly Fun 5K race, horse-drawn wagon rides, and a cookie baking contest. And that’s not all: There’s  the Fair Kick-Off Olympics, a collector car show and antique tractor display, safety displays, crafters and merchants markets, bike rodeo, K9 dog demonstration, cowboy mounted shooting show, a pie-baking contest, homemade rocket launches, and a special, four-hour interactive  Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) exhibit.  Master Gardeners will be on hand for bug, critter, and jumping worm questions for the green thumbs in attendance. Whew!
