RDA Outlining Block 7 Vision

The Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority is developing its own vision for one of the last vacant pieces of property in the North Barstow Street neighborhood. At its May 17 meeting, the RDA voted to hire SDS Architects to create a design for how the parcel, commonly called Block 7, can be used. The area is now a parking lot at the corner of North Barstow and Wisconsin streets, across from The Livery. Previously, several developers – including Commonweal Develwopment and Geoff Moeding – had submitted proposals for the property, but none of them were to the RDA’s liking. Mike Schatz, the city of Eau Claire’s redevelopment director, said the has RDA decided that, instead of soliciting more proposals, it will try a different approach: Putting its own vision on paper. The general schematics for Block 7 should be ready by sometime in June.
