Claudia Dragonowski will be honored as Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year by the West Wisconsin Chapter of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association at the statewide group’s annual awards dinner March 14 in Milwaukee. Along with two of her siblings, Joanne (Palzkill) and John, Claudia Draganowski is co-owner of Draganetti’s Ristorante in Altoona, Taverna Grill in Eau Claire, and The Enchanted Inn in Barnes. Their parents, Kas and Clara Draganowski, opened the latter business, a supper club, in 1951. Draganetti’s opened in 1981, and for the past 10 years it has been voted No. 1 for Best Italian Food in Volume One’s Best of the Chippewa Valley Poll. Tavern Grill followed in 2009, and the family plans to open a new pizzeria, Za 51, in Altoona later this year. According to the WRA, the Chapter Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year Award “is given based on success in business, community service, and dedication to the restaurant industry.” The WRA’s West Wisconsin Chapter encompasses Buffalo, Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, and Jackson counties.
