Clear your schedule for Thursday, March 2, and join the community for the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser at Florian Gardens. Not only will you get to chow down on delicious soup in a bowl handcrafted and donated by local student and professional artists but you’ll also help fill the empty bowls of hungry individuals and families across west-central Wisconsin. Whether you’re dining in or carrying out, any level of participation is greatly appreciated. Empty Bowls has been a successful fundraiser for the Eau Claire-based Feed My People Food Bank for almost a decade, bringing students, artists, and other residents together to have an active role in their community by giving back. Last year, close to 40 schools donate more than 1,500 bowls made of materials ranging from clay to wood in efforts to end local hunger. Hopefully this program will continue to grow. As a volunteer explained, “Without Empty Bowls, there would be empty stomachs and empty hearts.”  Come grab some grub in an original handmade bowl and help end Wisconsin hunger.
