Victoria” by Cari Raynae Collage on canvas with acrylic paint, various papers, ribbon, embroidery floss, drywall tape, and markers, 11” x 14

Cari Raynae is an award-winning interior designer and artist. She creates one-of-a-kind clothing, paper/paint collages, and unique greeting cards in her home studio.

“My collages start by painting a canvas, sometimes adding texture paste for dimensional interest. My subjects are often fashion illustrations, as I love to interpret the folds of a draping garment using several papers. Then I add to the background with additional papers, ribbons, and sometimes a handwritten quote. My interest in fashion started in junior high when I began sewing garments, although today my scissors cut more paper than fabric. I still use my sewing machines to create recycled sweater mittens and to embellish garments with needle-felting. I love the immediacy of creating greeting cards. I can turn out a small masterpiece in very little time. Lately I’ve been using watercolor to create both greeting cards and collages.” – The Artist
