Artswest Approaches: January 4 is deadline for artists to enter library’s juried show

Tom Giffey |

Are you a Wisconsin visual artist with a desire to have your work displayed as part of the Chippewa Valley’s premiere juried show? If the answer is yes, then time is running out to submit your creative output to Wisconsin ArtsWest 38 at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. An online entry form must be completed and digital images must be submitted by Wednesday, Jan. 4. The exhibit is open to all working artists and students residing in Wisconsin who are 18 or older. All work must be original and must have been completed since Jan. 1, 2015.  Artists may submit images of one large (exceeding 50 inches) or two smaller works. A nonrefundable entry fee of $10 per artist is required. For full details and to complete an online entry form, go to www.ecpubliclibrary.info/events. You can also learn more by calling (715) 839-4834 or emailing art@eauclaire.lib.wi.us. ArtsWest was born in 1979, and since 1981 it has been an annual spring ritual at the library. Last year, 109 artists from 28 communities submitted their work for consideration. The juror for this year’s ArtsWest will be David H. Wells, director of the Edgewood College Art Gallery in Madison. Artists will be notified by Feb. 1 if their work has been accepted; if it is, it must be delivered to the library between Feb. 11 and 15. The exhibit will be on display Feb. 19 to March 31, with a reception and awards presentation on Thursday, Feb. 23.
