Step back in time to the 1940s for a night to support veterans! Put on your best zoot suit and get ready to get down to the “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” at the 1940s-style Hawthorne Hanger Dance to help support the VFW’s Unmet Needs Program – a program dedicated to supporting veterans and their families with a variety of financial needs through grants. The event takes place Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport’s Hawthorne Hangar, and it begins from 6-7pm with free dance lessons offered by Arthur Murray Dance Studios. The main event runs from 7-11 pm and features 1940s music by Troppo Big Band and food from Connell’s Supper Club, Bar-B-Que Express, Yankee Jack’s Public House, and Family Farms Market. Vehicles and planes from the 1940s will be on display, along with war memorabilia. Dressing in period clothing is optional, but it adds to the experience – and it will give you an opportunity to participate in and win a vintage costume contest! Tickets are available at local Gordy’s Markets in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls for $35 per individual and $60 per couple, except for veterans, who will pay $25 per individual and $40 per couple.
