Local alt-rockers Whale House are debuting two new videos for “Red Sun” – a spacey, fuzzed out rock gem – and “Think Of Me” – a stomping psych-rock tune with a ton of muscle. The videos were a multi-faceted collaboration with videographer Scott Kunkel, photographer Kyle Lehman, and sound engineer Steve Norwick. With Kunkel and Lehman heading up the visuals, and Norwick making everything sound right, the band was able to crank out energetic cuts of both songs after hours at Eau Claire print shop Ambient Inks using movable walls, open space, and some extra lighting rigs from this year’s Eaux Claires festival. It’s not your traditional music video, it’s a unique live cut of these songs in an intimate setting. “A big part of our band is our live energy. I think these video cuts are pretty honest to our sound,” said Clayton Brice, guitarist and songwriter for Whale House. “We have a lot of trust in our friends. I’ve known Scott and Steve for a long time. They’re both really talented, so we told them to boss us around.” The videos honestly speak to the veteran local band’s talents and killer live show. Catch Whale House at an all ages show at Ambient Inks at 7pm on Nov. 18 with Clear Water Comedy and The Weathered Heads. Rock on, gang.
