Alcohol ink painting on yupo paper, 8” x 10”
Jan Killian of Woolyfrog Arts in Cumberland is a full time, self-taught artist. Her work can be seen at artZ Gallery in Amery, Naturally North in Spooner and juried shows in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
“Alcohol Ink has become my passion! I was immediately attracted to the vivid colors and the challenge of attempting to gain control of this free-flowing ink on non-porous surface. I have been painting with the inks daily for the last two years on Yupo paper, tile, metal, and canvas. Each surface requires a different method of application, direct from the bottle to canvas, re-wetting dried ink from watercolor wells, applying the ink directly on my brush, or using alcohol-based artist markers. My methods and style are totally self-taught, and I love experimenting to see what else I can come up with. More information at Woolyfrogarts.com.” – The Artist
