Downtown Eau Claire’s Phoenix Park will soon have a major sculpture that reflects its mythical name. On June 28 the Eau Claire City Council was expected to vote to accept the gift of a cast bronze sculpture, “Phoenix of Two Rivers” by Jeff Barber, from the JAMF Nation Global Foundation. The foundation is the charitable arm of JAMF Software, which operates a major office adjacent to Phoenix Park. The sculpture portrays the legendary bird and is approximately 6 feet tall with a wingspan of about 6 feet. It will be installed in Phoenix Commons, where a new promenade from the park will meet the end of Galloway Street, just north of the new parking ramp. According to a letter from the foundation to the city, the sculpture likely will be delivered by the end of July. “The ‘Phoenix of Two Rivers’ embodies the spirit of the confluence area and will serve as a centerpiece to a gathering point near the promenade,” the letter states.
